Why Choose Aluminium Bifold Doors?

When planning a property renovation or new build, you have many options for the transition from inside to outside. Aluminium bifold doors are extremely popular in modern homes for their multi-purpose characteristics.

Aluminium bifold doors are both a window and a door. The large expanse of glass creates a panoramic view and floods a property with natural light.

In the cooler months, you can enjoy an uninterrupted view outside from the comfort and warmth provided by the thermally efficient double glazing or triple glazing options.

When the weather is warm, you can pull the doors back to create a wide-open space to bring the outside in.

A room is transformed by installing stylish aluminium bifold doors. They are perfect for living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, dining rooms and conservatories.

So Much More Than Your Average Bifold Door

Aluminium bifold doors used to be an expensive architectural feature that only the rich and famous could afford. Now the slimline frames and large panels of glazing can be considered for all types of property.

From a domestic bungalow to a large restaurant, bifold doors are more popular than ever and can deliver the wow factor in almost any setting. With an increase in demand, you now have a wide selection of options available.

Slimline Frames

Our slimline aluminium bifold doors have a narrow frame without compromising on strength and durability. A slimline frame means you can enjoy uninterrupted views of your outside space.

Our bi fold door frames are produced with an extruded aluminium alloy which creates slimline frames that enable large expanses of glass. The material used conforms to British Standard EN12020-2-2008.

The frames are built with custom profiles which makes them easier to plan into a build and install.

Aluminium is a lightweight and durable material. This means that even the most extensive door configuration will not feel too heavy and will withstand whatever the British weather throws at it.

Thermal Efficiency

Specialist thermal break frames have been developed to fit with energy-efficient glass. This perfect combination enables our aluminium bifold doors to maintain a consistent temperature.

This means that the property will not get too cold in winter or too hot in summer.

The construction includes draught seal insulation to increase thermal efficiency. The draught seals conform to British Standard 7386-1997 to protect the property from heat loss and to save money on energy bills.

Glazing Options

Our bifold doors are available in double glazed and triple glazed options giving your living spaces outstanding thermal efficiency and acoustic performance.

High levels of thermal performance mean our bi-folds are exceptionally energy efficient. This makes them the perfect solution for those wishing to keep household energy bills down whilst also maintaining a year-round warm and cosy home.

Double glazed and triple glazed doors provide long-lasting durability and thanks to our wide range of colours and sizes you can create a bifold door to suit any home.

Depending on the property location and budget, you can select from three different glazing options.

  • 28mm double glazing – U value 1.7
  • 36mm triple glazing – U value 1.5
  • 44mm triple glazing – U Value 1.4

U values are a figure used to identify the thermal transmittance of a material. The number indicates how good the material is at stopping heat escaping outside. For example, an insulated cavity wall would have a U value of 0.3. Old style double glazing would typically have a U value of over 2.8, so it is always worth modernising your glazing.

Configuration Options

From an expansive seven sash layout to a single fold away option, we can build any configuration in between.

You can also decide on whether you want to include an independent traffic door function to operate as a standard door.

Aluminium bifold doors can be built with an inward or outward opening frame, and our team would be happy to talk you through the options.

For details of how to correctly measure for your new bifold doors please view our measuring guide.

Threshold Choice

When planning the purchase of your aluminium bifold door, consider the height of the threshold. A low-level threshold can create a seamless transition from inside to outside.

A threshold with a low level could be ideal for a commercial property that requires ease of access.

If your property is in a flood risk area, you may want to plan in a high threshold for weather resistance.

Security and Handles

Our aluminium bifold doors come fitted with an integrated high-security locking mechanism. The mechanism contains a concealed shoot bolt multi-point locking system with a single point handle.

If required, a key locking handle can be provided. You also have the option for an outside access handle.

You can select from five colour choices of handle; white, black, grey, bright chrome or satin chrome.

Ultimate Performance

The sliding mechanism in the aluminium bifold door frame has been developed to slide open the door effortlessly.

The smooth operating system supports even the largest of installations and has been designed to withstand years of use.

Bifold Doors Colour Choice

At Just Doors and Conservatories, we are proud to have some of the best colour options available on the market. Whatever your interior or exterior style, we can produce a frame colour to suit your property.

Powder Coated

Our powder coated aluminium bi folding doors provide an exceptionally high-quality finish in black, white or grey as standard and with other colour options being available upon request.

The process of powder coating involves applying a fine, powdered polymer to the aluminium surface of the bifold door frame. The coating provides a long-lasting, durable and weatherproof finish that enhances the lifespan of the doors.

Powder coating is becoming more and more popular as it not only makes the doors look better but, in increasing the lifespan of the door, it can be a big money saver as they will last longer before they need replacing.

The standard colour options available are shown below. We are also able to make bespoke colour orders on request.

Powder-coated Finishes (4 week lead time)
•  Anthracite Grey Both Sides
•  Anthracite Grey on White
• White
• Black Both Sides
• Black on White

Foiled Finishes ( 4 week lead time)

Our foiled finish bifold doors give you lots of extra colour options to choose from.

Foiling generally replicates the colours and textures of different types of wood. The foil is a type of laminate which is bonded to the door frames to provide a durable, weatherproof coating.

A foiled finish is a great option if you want your aluminium bifolding door to have the appearance of wood, but also want the durability and low maintenance of aluminium.

Our standard foiled finish colour options are shown below.

Foiled Finishes (4 week lead time)

• Rosewood Both Sides
• Rosewood on White
• Golden Oak Both Sides
• Golden Oak on White
• Irish Oak Both Sides
