Why Choose a Composite Door?

Replacing a front door is a relatively straightforward process. However, there are a lot of options for homeowners to choose from, which can make selecting the most suitable door for a home a little tricky. At Just Door and Conservatories, we manufacture and supply high-quality solid core composite doors and believe they are the best choice for British homes. So, why choose a composite door? In this post, we explain their many benefits.

Why Choose a Composite Door

Easy to Look After

Solid core composite doors require very little time and effort when it comes to maintenance. They are tolerant of extreme weather conditions and will withstand anything the British winter chooses to throw at them.

They do not require painting or treating, and they won’t split, warp or shrink if not correctly looked after.

Timber doors, in comparison, need to be redecorated every 3-4 years if you live in a regular climate and every 1-2 years if you live in an area with more extreme weather conditions.

If timber doors are not maintained, they can quickly become structurally unsound, developing cracks and warping. At best, this can make them difficult to open and close. At worst, they could become a security risk as they can become easy to break through.

Value for Money

A high-quality solid core composite door may cost more than some of the alternatives, such as UPVC or timber. However, over the lifetime of a composite door, you will save money.

As we’ve already mentioned, they require little to no maintenance, so you don’t need to purchase expensive paints and undercoats.

A composite door from Just Doors and Conservatories is also built to last. When other types of doors come to the end of their lives, our doors will still be going strong, providing you with excellent long-term value for money.

High Security

One of the most important reasons to choose a composite door is the high level of security they provide. Our doors are produced from 16 layers of laminated veneered timber called Kerto®. We add each layer so that the wood grain runs in different directions. This creates an extremely durable and robust core with no weak points.

To make your door even more secure, you can choose to incorporate ‘Secured by Design’ features. This is an initiative led by the Police that ensures a front door meets all the required standards for optimum security. A Secured by Design door will include toughed glass, spy holes, door chains and the highest-rated secure locks.

Choice

One thing that you will not be short of is choice when you select a solid core composite door. Of course, if you want to order quickly, you can pick from one of our standard doors and popular designs. However, if you want to design your door, then virtually every aspect and feature can be handpicked.

Select from 22 colours and multiple finishes, as well as a wide range of accessories such as handles, hinges, letterboxes and knockers.

Environmentally Friendly

The final reason to choose a solid core composite door is perhaps the most important. As Just Doors and Conservatories, all of the wood we use to produce the cores for our doors is from sustainably managed and approved sources.

At the end of the doors life, the wooden core can be recycled, meaning that very little material is sent to landfill.

Why Choose a Composite Door Summary

A solid core composite door has many benefits and will not only look fantastic but will also save you money and provide your home with optimum security.
